Whats going on in Snowboarding right now?

Snowboarding is a growing sport and there are a lot of things to be excited about right now. The culture is continuing to grow, new riders are pushing the limits every season, and brands are investing more into the future of the sport than ever before.

Shaun White officially started the The Snow League, which is expected to expand into multiple countries by 2027. Right now, this is the first major league-based snowboard competition series ever created, which is a massive step for the sport. Riders like Ayumu Hirano, Scotty James, Chloe Kim, Maddie Mastro, and rising riders like Rocco Jamieson are expected to be involved as the league continues to grow. A structured league format could completely change competitive snowboarding by creating bigger events, more consistency for athletes, and more exposure for the sport worldwide.

Zeb Powell is now officially endorsed by Jordan Brand, which is a huge moment for snowboarding culture. Nike was heavily involved in snowboarding during the early 2000s, and a lot of riders still consider that era one of the coolest times in snowboard culture. Because of Zeb’s influence, creativity, and popularity, people are excited to see if this endorsement opens the door for a bigger return of Nike and Jordan into snowboarding again. It also shows how much snowboard culture continues to influence fashion, sports, and streetwear outside of the mountain.

Another huge thing happening right now is the growth of backcountry and natural terrain riding through social media and snowboard films. Riders are focusing less on perfect contest runs and more on creativity, style, and filming unique lines in nature. Brands are putting more energy into making cinematic snowboard movies again, which has brought a lot of excitement back into the culture side of the sport.

Women’s snowboarding is also progressing faster than ever. Riders like Anna Gasser, Chloe Kim, and younger upcoming riders are continuing to push tricks that people never thought would be possible a few years ago. The level of riding in women’s contests keeps getting better every season, and more attention is finally being given to women’s snowboarding as a whole.

Another exciting thing is how much snowboard fashion and style is influencing everyday clothing right now. Baggy fits, oversized outerwear, vintage snowboard graphics, and mountain-inspired streetwear are becoming more popular again both on and off the mountain. A lot of people who have never even snowboarded are wearing styles that came directly from snowboard culture in the 90s and early 2000s.

Snowboarding keeps evolving every year, but the coolest part is that it still feels creative and community driven. Even as the sport grows bigger, riders are still finding new ways to push progression, create art, and inspire people both on and off the mountain.
